Florence Ann Barboro, age 87, of St. Peters, Missouri passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 23, 1934 to parents Richard and Hazel Dunsford (nee Ambro).
Florence was married to Robert Barboro. She and Robert loved to roller skate and compete against other couples. They were known for their strong love for each other and their ballroom dancing, which brought out the love that shined in everyone watching them. Florence was happiest going to catholic service, communion and saying the rosary and prayers for everyone. She missed Robert very much and prayed to him each night. Now they are back together dancing and roller skating with the angels.
After raising her four of her children, Florence graduated with honors from Lindenwood College where she majored in mass communication. After moving to Florida, she wrote a short story each week for the Arcadia Florida newspaper which ended up being a children's book called "Gussie the Gator". Each animal in the story had a name of a close family member or friend. Florence enjoyed writing poems and short stories, and donated the poems to Lindenwood College. Her writings are in the process of being published as a children's book of short stories.
Florence was loved by everyone. She always looked her best, wearing nice and cute outfits that were in style. She loved and wore hats that had sparkle and bling bling on them. Everyone at Spencer Place couldn't wait to see what she was wearing at every moment, and she had a hat that matched every outfit. The residents would come up to Florence and tell her she was the most beautiful angel and that they always wanted to be by her side.
Florence was a beautiful person who walked with God our Father, the blessed Mary, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and many angels and saints. She loved saying the rosary several times a day and speaking with God our Father and Our Lord Jesus Christ. She had a beautiful aura around her. People saw her aura and always wanted to touch and follow her so much that it scared her at times.
Mom and dad had 4 children the oldest to youngest: Tony, Val, Phil and me (Chrissy). Mom and dad also had a step daughter from a previous marriage from dad. Her name is Cheryl. Mom and dad have 10 grandkids and around 20 great grandkids
Florence is survived by her children, daughter, Christine Culp of O Fallon, MO; and son, Anthony Barboro of Granite City, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Barboro and parents, Hazel and Richard Dunsford.
There will be a graveside service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road in St. Louis, Missouri on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:45.
