Frank Penn

August 28, 1940 — December 31, 2024

St. Charles, MO

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Penn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed this world on December 31, 2024, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family in St. Charles, Missouri. Born on August 28, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, Frank lived a full and remarkable life, marked by both personal and professional accomplishments that touched the hearts of many.

Frank dedicated 35 years of his life as a systems analyst at McDonnell Douglas, where he rose through the ranks into management, showcasing his intelligence and dedication to his work. It is in the role of a husband and father where Frank truly shone. A devoted family man, he kept pictures of his children in his wallet at all times, a testament to the love and pride he felt for them. He is survived by his adoring wife, Janet Penn, née Stahlschmidt, who stood by his side throughout their beautiful journey together, along with their daughters, Leslie (Jim) Fogarty, Beth (Dan) Archibald, and Nikki McCarthy, who carry on his legacy with great love and strength.

Frank's warmth and charm could often be surprising; he seemed cranky on the outside, yet those who knew him well understood that beneath his exterior lay a heart of gold. He was a man of humor, and his great smile could brighten even the darkest of days. Frank took immense pride in his family, which extended to his grandchildren: Brandon Cook, Samantha Cook, Hannah Archibald, Olivia Archibald, Jimmy Fogarty, Jennifer Craig, and Ashleigh Marsh, as well as his great-grandchildren, Liam, Archie, Hunter, Riley, Gentry, Lillian, Lynnleigh, and Johnathan. Each of them held a special place in his heart, as he cherished every moment spent with them. Frank is also survived by his sister, Mary Goggin.

In addition to his family, Frank was also a proud veteran, having served honorably in the United States Army. After his military service, he took great joy in pursuing his hobbies, which included his lifelong passion for ice hockey, especially as a dedicated fan of the St. Louis Blues. He found happiness on the golf course, where he proudly made two holes in one that garnered attention in the local newspaper, a moment he treasured and kept clippings of throughout the years. Frank also enjoyed playing poker, where he would share laughter and good times with family and friends.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Vivian Penn, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
