Garry L. Hutchison

October 15, 1945 — December 14, 2024

Wentzville, Missouri

Garry L. Hutchison, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world peacefully at home in Wentzville, Missouri on December 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Flint, Michigan on October 15, 1945, Garry lived a life rich in love, laughter, and hardworking dedication that would leave an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Garry was a graduate of Ritenour High School, class of 1963. He embarked on a remarkable career that began with Unilever, where he dedicated three decades of his life from 1971 until 2001. His work ethic and commitment did not stop there; thereafter, he took on a role at St. Louis Auto Auction part-time and spent three fulfilling years driving a school bus for the Wentzville School District until his retirement in 2018. Garry thrived on being busy, a testament to his love for his work and the joy it brought him.

Family was the cornerstone of Garry's existence. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Hutchison, alongside their daughter Dawn and son Matthew (Elianna) Hutchison. Garry’s heart swelled with pride as a grandfather to Dakota, Blake, Dylon, Dawson, and Garrett, who brought immense joy into his life. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, who warmed his heart and filled his days with laughter and adventure.

Garry was not only dedicated to his career and family; he also had a deep passion for woodworking, hunting, and fishing. His hands were always busy crafting something beautiful or sharing tales of adventure spent in nature's bounty.

He is also remembered fondly by his sisters, Pam (Bob) White and Carol (Brett) Rough, his brother, the late Randy Hawley, his sister-in-law Karen Ermeling, brother-in-law Ronald (Alice) Cox, and mother-in-law Rosaline Cox. Garry’s passing leaves a void not only in their lives but also in the hearts of loving nieces and nephews who will miss his warmth and wisdom.

Garry was preceded in death by his biological father, Lester Hutchison, his father Joe Hawley, and his mother Dorthella Maxine Hawley. He also mourned the loss of his brother John "Randy" Hawley, brother-in-law Stan Ermeling, father-in-law Harold Cox, and nephew Brent Ermeling—all treasured family members who will be missed dearly.

A visitation to celebrate Garry's life will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM, both at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri.
