Gary graduated from St. Charles High School and was a Vietnam vet who served his country in the Navy from 1968 to 1972 where he studied to be an electrician. After leaving the service he worked for Perky Electric and then at Six Flags for many years where he was a foreman. He had a dream to open a camping resort with his father, and in 1988 that dream came true and for 33 years they owned and operated The Windmill Resort on Mark Twain Lake. He was also a very talented artist who from a very young age painted signs for others and did all of the artwork for his own camping resort, family and Friends.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife Pauline, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren or just sitting in his recliner watching politics on Fox News, the Chiefs game or NASCAR. He had quite a collection of Zippo lighters and owns a 55 Ford F100 truck. He spent what he called "happy hour" from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. alone in his man cave where he enjoyed listening to his Google, reading a book or watching out the window. He loved to eat out and travel to places such as Amish land and car shows where he could also people watch. He loved a cup of dark, dark coffee and candy such as orange slices and black licorice. But if you asked him his biggest enjoyment it would be as simple as sitting outside in the sun watching the squirrels, cooking up a barbecue, smoking a cigarette and having a beer.
