Gary LeGrande, age 79, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020. He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on June 30, 1940 to Ramon and Myrtle LeGrand (nee Hutchings).
Gary was married to Ruthann LeGrande for 55 years. He was a teacher at Ferguson - Florissant School District for 32 years. In retirement, he worked as a tour guide in Saint Louis. Gary was a very strong Christian and very involved in church and church activities. He was chairman for Camps Farthest Out (CFO) Christian Family Camp. Gary was an avid sports fan. He was a passionate St Louis Cardinal fan. He started the Cardinal's Fan Club in Saint Louis and went to Spring Training in Jupiter, FL every year. Gary loved watching and playing baseball, golf, basketball and tennis with his lifelong friends. He was great about keeping relationships with lifelong friends like the "Town Dogs". Gary traveled extensively with his family and friends every chance he got. He intensely loved life and made friends with everyone he met.
Gary is survived by his wife, Ruthann LeGrande; children, Debbie (Ross) Hammond, Dawn (Tony) Newport, Denise (Brian) Douglas; grandchildren, Sabrina Hammond, Tyler Hammond, Braxton Douglas, Elijah Douglas, Anna Douglas, Ella Douglas, Sarah Douglas, and Avery Douglas; sister, Sharon Coon. He will be greatly missed by many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ramon LeGrand; and mother, Myrtle LeGrand.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376 (636-875-1200). A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:30 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in O'Fallon, MO.
