Gary L. Simpkins

Gary Lee Simpkins 70, of St. Charles, Missouri sadly passed away in his sleep on Friday, October 4, 2024. 

He was born to the late Floyd and Irene Simpkins on July 8, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Gary married Heike in 1990 and they lived together in St. Charles County. They were married for 34 wonderful years when Gary passed away. 

Gary attended Ritenour High School and retired from Boeing after 35 years.

Gary enjoyed spending time fishing at his lake place at Lake Egypt, bowling (in his younger years), dedicating time to the St. Charles Elks Lodge, being an administrator on the Facebook group St. Charles Just For Fun, helping many families with their ancestry and history, listening to music out on the deck he built and having a drink with Heike, watching the Cardinals or Chiefs games, and having his family and friends over for pool parties and other events.

Gary is survived by his wife, Heike; daughter, Michelle Jett (Tom); sons, Mark Mercado (Mary), Scott Simpkins (Kristina); grandchildren, Brenden Jett (Shayla), Abigail Arnold (Chris), Chloe Spear (son Ryland), Cameren Jett, Cooper Jett, Chloe Spears, Rowan Simpkins, Mark Mercado Jr., Regan Simpkins, Jude Mercado, Jocelyn Simpkins, Lydia Simpkins, Vivian Simpkins; brothers John (Ursula) and William Simpkins; daughter-in-law, Tammy Simpkins. Gary is also survived by a large extended family and many lifelong friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Irene Simpkins; son, Kevin Simpkins, and brothers, Richard and Ron Simpkins, and his two dog babies Dexter and Alex. 

Gary’s legacy of love, wisdom, gentleness, and friendship will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Please join us for his Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at St. Charles Elks Lodge, 560 St. Peters Howell Rd. St. Charles, MO. 63304 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. The Elks will be honoring him with a service at 3:00 p.m.
