Geofrey Francis Mitchell, 37, of O'Fallon, MO., died October 26, 2019, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Geof was born in Florissant, Mo., on July 8, 1982, to Dale and Rita (Roth) Mitchell. He grew up in St. Charles, Mo., and attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Cottleville, Mo., and St. Dominic High School in O'Fallon before the family moved to Madison, Ala., in 1997. Geof graduated from Bob Jones High School in Madison and then attended the University of Minnesota. He graduated in 2004 with a degree in astrophysics. He stayed in Minneapolis after graduation to work for his beloved Twins and then moved back to the St. Louis area.
Geof met his future wife, Elisha, in September 2012. They were married on March 26, 2016, in O'Fallon. They loved cooking together, gardening, watching movies, visiting with family, and spending time with their dog, Dempsy, and cat, Indie. Geof also loved the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, as well as the Golden Gophers, and he enjoyed bowling and playing basketball.
Geof is survived by his wife, Elisha (Heppermann) Mitchell of O'Fallon, Mo.; his mother, Rita (Roth) Mitchell of St. Peters, Mo.; his grandmother, Darlene (Kincade Mitchell) James of Garrison, N.D.; his sisters, Lisa (CJ) Schultz-Haskell of O'Fallon, Mo., and Heather (Dustin) Hayes of St. Charles, Mo.; nieces and nephews Samantha, William, and Thomas Schultz and Marie, Charlie, and Emily Hayes; his father-in-law, Patrick Heppermann; his mother-in-law, Robin (Bornhop) Heppermann; his brother-in-law, Austin Heppermann; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Geof's father, Dale Mitchell, and grandparents George Mitchell, Clifford James, Anthony Roth, and Jean (Hoedebecke) Roth, died earlier.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newcomer, St Peters Chapel (636-875-1200). A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 10:30 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, with lunch immediately following in the St. Joseph Parish Center.
