Gerald W. Bradley, 91, of St. Peters, MO, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 after a long battle with dementia.
Jerry, as he preferred to be called, was born to the late Austin and Isabelle Bradley on April 18, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio.
He was proud of his service in the Army as a sergeant during the Korean War, stationed in parts of Europe, mainly France.
After his service in the Army ended, he came back home to Ohio where he met his wife-to-be, Linda Barrett. They were wed on May 10,1958 and soon had 3 children, 1 daughter and 2 sons. Jerry accepted a job transfer with the American Investment Company and relocated his young family to St. Louis, MO in August of 1966. They made a nice life for themselves in the Maryland Heights, MO area for many years before they moved to St. Charles County in 1980.
Jerry had many interests, one of those was playing the piano. The family still remembers the tune of, "Clair de Lune" floating thru the house as he practiced to get it just right. He LOVED golf and played on Monsanto's golf team for many years with his long-time friend and colleague, Dave. Jerry even scored a hole in one on one of his outings! Another of Jerry's passions, that lasted his whole life, was painting. He began doing copies of the impressionist painters, Van Gogh and Monet, were his favorites. After retirement he wanted to challenge himself a bit and went back to college and took portraiture classes. He excelled in this area as well, many friends and family have at least one of his paintings hanging in their homes.
Jerry was also an avid reader with an extensive library. He raised his children to read with a dictionary by their side, and later, loaning out many a book to his grandchildren to assist with a project for school or college.
Most importantly Jerry loved and adored his family, his love was unconditional. He planned trips for his family, encouraged his children towards education and spoke of the Lord as he was bringing up his children. He and his wife, Linda were married for 57 years.
Jerry is survived by 2 children, Diane Loveless, and Glenn (Teresa) Bradley; 5 grandchildren: Tyler (Christina) Loveless, Brennan (Natalie) Loveless, Heather (David) Kruggel, Ashley Bradley, and Corey Bradley; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Bradley (Barrett); brother, Robert Bradley; son, Greg Bradley; and grandson, Collin Loveless. Jerry was a dearly loved brother-in-law to Carlene and Don Hardinger; cherished uncle to Jeff (Denise) Hardinger; Shari (Mary Livingston) Hardinger, and Carrie (Bradley) Petersen.
