Gerald "Jerry" W. Hornbeck age 85, of Lake St.Louis, passed away at his residence on March 25, 2018. Jerry was born on July 4, 1932 in Utica, Illinois. He was the son of Bernard and Verniel (Dickenson) Hornbeck. On July 12, 1980, Jerry married Ann Hornbeck (nee Varley). Jerry and Ann spent the next 38 years together.
Jerry served in the US Army as a Sergeant and later in the Army Reserve during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed a successful career in the institutional food industry as a sales manager. Jerry was an avid reader and his hobbies included RV travel of 58,000 miles coast to coast, boating and involvement in the St. Petersburg, Florida Coast Guard Auxiliary as Flotilla Commander and boating instructor.
Jerry was a very friendly person and never met a stranger. Jerry was an avid reader and he will be missed by the Progress Parkway librarians.
Along with his wife Ann, Jerry is survived by his 3 daughters, Debbie McNamee of Ft. Myers, Florida, Cathy Hornbeck of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Lori (Ken) Wright of Santa Ana, California; son, David Hornbeck of St. Petersburg, Florida; 2 step-children, Sheri (Paul) Mattli of St. Charles, Missouri and Tom (Patti Darnley) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and brother, Leo (Wilma) Hornbeck of Marseilles, Illinois. 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and the mother of Jerry's children, Geri Snyder of Florida.
Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Hornbeck, and Robert Hornbeck; and sister, Rosemary Hornbeck.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peter's.
