Gerald "Jerry" A. Schaeffer

September 26, 1950 — September 18, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gerald (Jerry) Alan Schaeffer on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Jerry suffered greatly from the ravages of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, but fought for air to the very end. Jerry was the son of Betty (Koeppe) and Wenzel (Wink) Swift. He was raised in Spanish Lake Missouri.
He leaves behind so many broken hearts-his wife and soulmate, Diane Schaeffer. His children Tom (Stacie) Schaeffer, Rachel (John) Bender, Matt Belko, and youngest son-Michael Schaeffer. Jerry absolutely loved being a PawPaw to Jeremiah, Garrett, Ella, Sadie, Vera, and Harrison. He also leaves behind his brother Bud (Vicki) Schaeffer and his little sister Susan (Jeffrey) Bladen.
Jerry was full of age-old adages but his children remember one of their favorites, "Keep your dickbeaters off my soda and horse-cock sandwich."--which is "Jer" for "don't touch my lunch"
He was escorted by angels to his next chapter where he is now breathing easy and feeling strong again. Jerry is so very happy to be where he is now.
His family welcomes all who want to celebrate "Jer" at a memorial service, service date and time can be found below.

He will be interred at Jefferson Barracks following his cremation, on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association
