Gladys Elaine Lakin

March 3, 1925 — May 2, 2021

Gladys Elaine Lakin, age 96, of OFallon, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born in Lincoln, Illinois on March 3, 1925 to George "Bert" and Bernadine "Bertha" Lowman (nee Myers).

Elaine was married to Ronald Lakin. She was active with the First United Methodist Church of Pekin, IL, a charter member of the Elks Emblem Club, active with the Moose Club, American Legion and Junior Women's Club while in living in Pekin. When she moved to Fort Myers, FL she remained active with Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, American Legion and VFW. While in O'Fallon, MO she was active with the First St. Charles United Methodist Church.

She loved crocheting, sewing, reading many books and dancing. She loved her family, and especially adored her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Elaine is survived by her daughters, Cheri (John) Glassey of Winter Garden, FL, Linda Travis of Pekin, IL, and Penny Dobbs of Saint Peters, MO; grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer (Dr. Brad) Glassey-Deese, Brian (Stacy Painter) Travis, Robin Travis, and Megan (Doug) Cook; great-grandchildren, Ava Deese, Oliver Deese, Baylee Travis, Kaytlin Elliott, Cody Cook, Kyle Cook, and Chase Cook, and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Bernadine Lowman; husband, Ronald Lakin, son-in-law Robert Travis; grandson Jonathan Glassey; and five siblings.

Visitation will be Friday, May 7, 2021 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court St., Pekin, IL 61554. The service will begin at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the New Union Cemetery of the City of Lincoln, Illinois following services.

In lieu of flower memorial contributions may be sent to either First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court St., Pekin, IL 61554 or First St. Charles United Methodist Church, 801 1st Capitol Dr., St. Charles, MO 63301.
