Gregory James Hunt

January 26, 1957 — December 5, 2024

O'Fallon, Missouri

Gregory James Hunt, born on January 26, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, departed this life on December 5, 2024, in Weldon Springs, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. He was a man of quiet strength and unending compassion, whose gentle spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him.

For an impressive 40 years, Gregory dedicated his career to improving his community through his work at the City of Kirkwood's recycling center. His commitment to making the world a better place extended beyond his profession; in every interaction, he carried the values of kindness and generosity. Friends and colleagues fondly remember him as a tireless advocate for sustainability, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a smile.

Gregory cherished his family deeply, including his siblings, Kathleen (Gene) Schroeder, Suzanne (Harold) Piper, and Timothy (Beverly) Hunt, along with his sister-in-law, Joan Hunt and the love of his life, Karen Grawe. His bond with his family was evident in the cherished memories they created together—one particularly fond memory was the time Gregory helped his brother rebuild a 1929 Chevrolet Tudor, a testament to his love for cars and camaraderie.

The love he had for his family was only rivaled by the affection he had for his beloved dog, Chloe. Their time spent together symbolized Gregory's unwavering loyalty and caring nature. He was known to give his all to anyone in need, embodying what it meant to be a true friend and a devoted family member.

Gregory is preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Dolores F. Hunt, as well as his brothers, William D. Hunt, Jr. and Patrick J. Hunt, and his grandparents, Jane and John C. Hunt and Maryann and Adolph Vetz. Their spirits will forever remain a comforting presence, and their memories will inspire a legacy of love that lives on through his siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Gregory will gather to celebrate his life and honor his memory on December 13, 2024. The visitation will take place at Saint John Bosco Catholic Church in St. Louis from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Ste. Philippine Cemetery & Mausoleum in St. Charles, commencing at 12:30 PM.
