Gregory David Koessel from Florissant, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on August 24th, 2018 at the age of 62. Greg was born on November 4th,1955 in St. Louis, Missouri to David Koessel and Patricia Koessel (Everett), who have proceeded Greg in death.
Greg worked as an auto worker for Chrysler Motor Company for 32 years and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 110. He was able to retire young and enjoy his children and grandchildren as well as knowing he had his first great grandchild on the way.
Greg was a big "movie buff" especially movies of history and of different war battles. He was a devoted reader of history and politics, which he accumulated quite the library.
Greg was blessed with the skill of art at a young age, which he introduced the passion of art to his brother and later carried through to his nephews and grandchildren.
Greg was an animal lover. He enjoyed feeding the birds and four legged creatures in his backyard. His favorite animal was dogs and he absolutely adored his loyal companion "Jr". "Jr." is a miniature schnauzer who was named after Greg's favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Greg loved watching all sports from NFL, NHL, and NASCAR.
Greg was a man of many talents. Once his mind was made up he could create or build anything with his hands, which is why he loved mechanic work, rebuilding motors, and gardening his beautiful rose bushes.
Gregory is survived by his loving and caring family: Sons Jason (Holly), Ryan (Sara), and Anthony (Jessie) Koessel; daughter Jacquelyn (Trevor) Gibbs; brother Brian (Wendy) Koessel; sister Debbie (Steve) Koester.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 4 pm and a reception will be held after (approximately 5 pm) at Mid Rivers Christian Church, 838 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters.
The family would like to thank all the caring individuals with Kindred Hospice who cared for Greg during his last days of life. Greg's children are suggesting that in lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to Kindred Hospice, 2055 Craigshire Road, Suite 410, St. Louis, MO 63146.
