Gretchen Anne (Pollock) Brown, age 79, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in her home in St. Peters, Missouri. Gretchen was born On May 11, 1939 in Longmont, Colorado to Stanley and Margaret (Hunter) Pollock.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, Robert E. Brown; her daughter and son-in-law Karen Lynn and Jack VanEs; her son, Robert Donald Harston; her niece, Leah Salmons; her nephew, Mark Pollock; her step-daughter, Mona Jean Garrison; her step-son and daughter-in-law Mitchell and Judi Brown; her step-daughter and son-in-law Kelly Leigh and Charlie Hill' her grand-sons, Cole Garrison, Tyler VanEs, and Zachary King-Brown; her grand-daughter and son-in-laws, Stephanie and John Polston, and Jami and Justin Graham; and grand daughters, Brooke Taylor Crowell, Kati Hill, and Andi Hill. Her brother and sister-in-law John an dTina Pollock preceded her in death.
Gretchen went to college in California where she met Robert "Bud" Harston and then married him in Las Vegas,Nevada on February 15, 1960. Moving to St. Louis, they were blessed with two children. Gretchen worked in the air lines industry all her life, first with Hughes Aircraft, then Delta and finally with TWA as a reservationist for nearly 40 years.
On February 17th, 1984 Gretchen married Robert Brown in Jackson, Wyoming. They have been married for 34 years, 3 months, and 5 days. Retiring in 1999 and living in the St. Louis area, she spent much of the next 3 years caring for her elderly parents in Ontario, California. She spent a year in Michigan cooking and helping out her grandson, Tyler, while he attended college. She has helped her grandson, Cole, and her grand-daughter, Stephanie, in numerous ways over the years. She was a devoted, loving, and generous "Nanny" as she was called by them.
She and her husband spent much of the winter months in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where they have many friends and family. Two of her most favorite things were dining out and shopping. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Charles. Gretchen was a fun lady. She was a avid animal lover and enjoyed taking care of people. We will miss her with all of our hearts.
Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Peters Chapel, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.
Visitation will be Friday, May 25, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newcomer St. Peters Chapel.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimers's Association in honor of Gretchen.
