Harold R. Scott

Harold R. Scott, age 88, of Ferguson, passed away on December 29, 2020. Harold was born on February 6, 1932 in St. Louis. He was the son of the late Radford and Mary (Cash) Scott. On September 9, 1955, he married the love of his life Anna Louise Braun. Harold had many friends, and his character, wisdom, and humor will be sorely missed.

Harold attended Lutheran High School in St. Louis. After graduating he later went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Washington University. Harold had a 40-year career with Ameren UE, working in several different capacities. He finally retired in 1994 as an Executive in Industrial Relations.

Throughout his life, Harold's faith has played an important role. He was an active member of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities, from participating on the Finance Committee, driving the church van to bring people to Sunday worship, being an usher and greeter and reading scriptures during church services. For several years, Harold was an active volunteer with the Lutheran Family and Children's Services. He also very much enjoyed working the Zion Lutheran Church fish fries.

During his retirement, Harold remained active by belonging to the First Marine Division Association of St. Louis and the American Legion Post #0444. He was also an avid bowler and belonged to several bowling leagues and served as secretary to many of those leagues. He was proud to have bowled a perfect "300" game.

Harold leaves behind a living legacy consisting of his loving wife, Anna; son, John R. (Tere) Scott of O'Fallon; daughter, Janis L. (Marty) Haas of St. Peters; sister, Joyce (Earl) Ealick of Desloge, MO; brother, Ray (Diane)Scott of Imperial, MO; grandson, Graham Scott; granddaughters, Jaléna Scott and Eliana Scott; grandson, David (Amanda) Haas; granddaughters, Sarah (Chris) Gooch and Rachel (Alex) Toelke; and several loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Scott.

Funeral services will be private due to the COVID pandemic. Harold will be laid to rest in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors to recognize his service to our nation by serving in the United States Marine Corp. Video of Harold's Funeral service will be recorded and made viewable. Harold's obituary on Newcomer's website will be updated with a link to the video after January 12th.

The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions in Harold's name to his favorite charities, Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, 11645 Benham Rd., St. Louis, MO 63136, and St. Louis Children's Hospital associated with BJC.
