Helen Lee Latkovich

April 11, 1927 — April 12, 2020

Helen Lee Latkovich (nee Jenkins) passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020, from Alzheimer's at the age of 93. She was born in Dexter, Missouri on April 11, 1927 to Roy and Eva Jenkins (nee Garner). Sister of Bob Jenkins, the late Betty Thomure, Mary Lou Schraum, Nita Lemons (Benny) and Jerry Jenkins (Mary Jane).

Helen was married to the late Sam Latkovich for 70 years. She worked for Bell Telephone and Target. She was talented in many crafts and activities such as: ceramics, crocheting, embroidery/sewing, and tole painting. Helen had a green thumb for flowers and plants, especially for African Violets, succulents and cactus plants. She was an enthusiastic collector of purses and loved bargain shopping. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, friends and family, taking family trips and several cruises throughout her lifetime. Helen was delighted to be around babies/children and cared for grandchildren and little ones in her home. Having Alzheimer's did not diminish her chattiness or curiosity in others while living at Mark Twain Manor. She never failed to compliment someone carrying a nice tote bag or purse, saying, "Oh, that's a nice bag," or "That'd look good on me."

Helen is survived by her children, Larry Latkovich, Kenneth Latkovich (Paula) and Jennifer Walsh; her grandchildren, Angela Latkovich, Laura Stokes (Bob), Lexi Latkovich, Megan Coffel (Shawn) and Katie Walsh; her great-grandchildren Tanner Johnson, Rylee Harrison, Ava Harrison, Evan Caito, Cory Hoffman and Chase Walsh.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers over the years, especially Jessica Dowdy, the staff at Mark Twain Manor and the care team at Heartland Hospice Care.

Services for Helen have been postponed due to the current environment surrounding the coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.

Memorial contributions in Helen's name may be made out to the Alzheimer's Association https://www.alz.org or a charity of your choice.
