Helen Marczuk Raffel, age 94, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 29, 1927 to John and Victoria Urbanik (nee Marczuk).
Helen was married to Edward Joseph Raffel for 73 cherished years. Helen had many joys in her life and family was at the top of the list. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling especially with the In-Laws and Out-Laws. She loved to swing dance to the music of the 40's. Her first dance always belonged to Ed. She enjoyed cooking but especially loved baking. Her family always enjoyed a home baked dessert with almost every meal. Helen loved to read, write poetry, and liked playing cards and other games. She was very proud of her garden. She loved to shop especially at Walgreens and loved garage sales. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed talking about her favorite & not so favorite players. She was very devoted to her faith in the Catholic Church and attended Mass regularly. She was very generous and willing to help anyone in need. She loved her pets and almost always had a dog in her life. She was treasured by her husband, her children, her grandsons, & her great-grandchildren. She had several nicknames including Helch, "H", Mom, and Granny.
Helen is survived by her Son, Greg (Melanie) Raffel, Daughter, Rebecca (Joe ) Orzel, Daughter, Geralyn (Linda Jones) Raffel, Grandson, Bob (Jamie) Orzel, Grandson, Brad (Shannon) Orzel, Great-Granddaughters: Piper & Karly Orzel, Great-Grandsons: Owen, Wesley, Carson & Davis Orzel, Sister-In-Laws: Mary Ann Kline & Bernice Chierek and she will be dearly missed by a host of other family members, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Raffel; Mother, Victoria (Urbanik) Gajewski; and her son-in-law Robert S Orzel.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Saints Joachim and Ann Catholic Church 4112 McClay Rd, St Charles, MO 63304.
Mass will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, November 18, 2021.
Pavilion service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 12:45 pm.
