Henry Urbanowicz, the beloved son of Zygmunt and Regina Urbanowicz, passed away on February 18, 2025. "Uncle Hank," as fondly known by the Kaminski and Kruszynski families, leaves behind a legacy of Polish pride, laughter, cherished memories, and remarkable athleticism.
Hank was born in Germany on March 20th, 1946, and immigrated to St. Louis, MO with his parents in 1949. He later moved to Denver, CO, for a job opportunity and quickly fell in love with the state, making it his home until his passing. He was a proud graduate of DeAndreis High School and the University of Miami. Hank was a tremendous athlete and excelled in baseball and football throughout college. In 1966, the St. Louis Cardinals drafted him in the first round to play first base, but he chose to pursue his passion for football at his beloved University of Miami. His talent on the field led to his selection by the Minnesota Vikings in the 8th round of the 1968 NFL Draft. Though an injury cut his professional career short, his love for sports never faded. Whether wearing a suit as Director of Operations for a professional hockey team or khakis on the golf course, Hank’s passion for sports remained a defining part of his life.
Uncle Hank, you will be dearly missed.
