Heriberto Alejandro “Alex” Vazquez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 23, 2024, in St. Peters, Missouri. He was born on March 16, 1961, in Havana, Cuba, and his journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family and an impressive array of talents and passions.

Alex was the epitome of a family man. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved life partner, Nancy Hight, his stepson Nicholas Hight, and took great pride in his role as a father to his sons, Alex and Anthony Vazquez. His love radiated even more brightly as he became a grandfather to Abigail Roth and Ava Vazquez, spending countless hours sharing laughter and creating memories that will forever be cherished by them.

A technically minded individual, Alex possessed a gift for fixing things, particularly cars, showcasing not just skill but also the joy he found in problem-solving. Friends and family knew him as someone who was always there, ready to lend a listening ear or offer careful advice with sincerity and warmth. With a keen intelligence and an exceptional aptitude for mathematics, he navigated life with both practicality and humor, often lightening the mood with his jokes and witty banter.

Alex’s interests were diverse, reflecting his vibrant personality. He was an avid gymnast, placing first in the State of Florida in pommel horse in 1979. He had a great love for football, and enjoyed playing fantasy football with his sons. He knew four languages and appreciated different cultures. 

He was surrounded by family and friends who admired his trustworthiness and the genuine interest he had in others. He had a special ability to connect with those around him; he took the time to truly understand what mattered to them, offering support that came from a place of deep compassion.

Alex is survived by his loving mother, Carmen Betancourt; his devoted brother, Jose Vazquez; and his cherished family including his life partner Nancy, sons Alex and Anthony (Breann), stepson Nicholas, granddaughters Abigail and Ava, and many others who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Braulio Vazquez Mosteiro Govin, and his sister, Ana Reed.

Private services will be held on Sunday, December 29th, 2024.

Alex’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, dear Alex; you will forever hold a special place in the hearts of your family and friends.
