James L. Batson

James L. Batson, age 83, of O Fallon, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 in O Fallon, Missouri. He was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 3, 1937 to Melvin and Geneva Batson (nee Tomas).

James was married to Helen Batson for 60 years. Together they raised four children, who blessed them with eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. James loved sports, he was an avid fisherman and golfer. He came from humble beginnings and achieved great things, but for him his greatest accomplishment was his family. His children and grand children were the lights of his life and he devoted himself to caring and providing for them until he took his last breath. He also loved his country and proved his patriotism having served in the Navy for 27 years. In addition to his military service James was employed for 35+ years with McDonnell Douglas and eventually Boeing. When he retired he had reached the position of CFO of two Boeing sites in Southern California. Upon his retirement, he and Helen returned to Saint Louis and settled in O'Fallon where they lived until his passing. James was well respected by everyone whose lives he touched and he will be greatly missed. After a long illness he is resting in peace with his maker.

James is survived by his wife, Helen Batson; his children, Sherry (Paul) Saltzman-Mertz, Kevin (Valerie) Batson, Tonya (Patrick) Gilmore, and Amy (Gregory) Huesgen; his grandchildren, Andrew (Lauren) Batson, Sarah Saltzman, Taylor Batson, Lexi Saltzman, Ethan Huesgen, Jeffery "JJ" Gilmore, Gage Huesgen, and Ryan Gilmore; his great-grandchildren, Addy Monette, Everleigh Batson, Emmelyn Batson, Brielle Mills, and Ariella Batson; and his siblings, Ruth Ann (Al) Stern, and Dale (Donna) Batson. He will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Batson; and his mother, Geneva Batson;
