James E. Brown, age 96, of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 in Bridgeton, Missouri. He was born in Greenville, Alabama on September 6, 1925 to Wilkes and Mabel Brown (nee Black).
James lived most of his life in various towns in Alabama. He and his wife spent many years together raising their children. Throughout the years they were strong in their faith and very involved in the church. James served for many years as a deacon at Midway Baptist Church in Honoraville, Alabama. He was a proud member of the Luverne Masonic Lodge #630 in Luverne, Alabama for many years. James was a barber for over 60 years and even owned his own shop, Snowden Barber shop. In 2015, years after retiring and the passing of his wife, James moved up the St Louis area where his daughter lived. James will always be remembered by his love for his family and his generous heart to all.
James is survived by his children, Julia Atchison and James "Dwight" (Elizabeth) Brown; his brother, Wyman (Lizzie Mae) Brown; his grandchildren, Trisha (Galvin) Humphries, Jessica Harris, Amanda Ward, Becky (James) Sheahan and Robert (Alli) Atchison; his great-grandchildren, Tyler Ward, Luke Humphries, Emily Ward, Joe Bruce, Kai Sheahan, Alivia Humphries and Spencer Atchison. He will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavert P. Brown; his father, Wilkes I. Brown; his mother, Mabel E. Moorer; his brother, Frank Brown; and his great-granddaughter, Corynn Humphries.
