James R. Ennen (Jim) of Chesterfield, MO, formerly of Kirkwood, MO, peacefully passed, July 2022, with family by his side. Born in West Frankfort, IL to Ruth Fitzgerald Cox and D. Ennen, Jim moved to the Kirkwood, MO area as a youth and spent much of his educational years in the Kirkwood schools, graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1952 and retaining many life-long friends from those days. Jim was called to serve his country and is a decorated veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 48th Field Artillery Battalion of the 7th Infantry Division. Upon his return, he attended Southeast Missouri State University then worked as a smokejumper fighting fires in the great northwest before launching a successful career in industrial construction. Jim helped build present-day Saint Louis, managing large development projects including the Arch, the St. Louis Zoo, Anheuser Busch Brewery, and several regional automotive plants. As dedicated St Louisan, Jim was passionate about the baseball Cardinals, and sports in general. He was passionate as well in his love for his grandchildren and children. Jim is survived by his son Steve and daughter-in-law Jean Ennen and grandchildren Fiona, Fletcher, Foster, of West Chester, PA; his daughter Alison and son-in-law Kurt Drumheller and grandsons Kallen and Nicholas of Tetonia, Idaho.
A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 2211 Clarkson Road, Chesterfield MO, 63017 from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, July 27 with a brief service at the same location 9:30 am Thursday, July 28, followed by interment in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St Jude's Children's Hospital, Jim's preferred charity.
