January 8, 1942 – March 22, 2025
James “Jim” Peine, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 83. A kind and gentle man, Jim was deeply loved by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born and raised in St. Paul, Missouri, Jim was the son of Len and Clara Peine. He attended St. Paul Elementary School and graduated from Wentzville High School in 1960. He proudly served in the National Guard before building a career in the paper, can, and plastic industry. In his retirement, he gave back to his community by volunteering with the St. Charles Historical Society, dedicating his time to preserving local history.
Jim married the love of his life, Donna, on October 14, 1967, and together they built a beautiful family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Peine; his daughters, Julie Ptak (Bill) and Lori Gilmore (Mike); grandchildren, Ashley Archer, Tyler Gilmore (Chelsea), Nikki Ptak, Caleb Gilmore (Kayla), AJ Ptak, Matt Gilmore (Katie), and Megan Cottner (Nick); and great-grandchildren, Brodie Garza, Penelope Cottner, Remy Gilmore, Roman Gilmore, and Rayna Gilmore. His legacy of love and kindness lives on through each of them.
Jim’s passions included family genealogy, bike riding, and gardening—hobbies that reflected his love for both the past and the present. A man of deep faith, he was a lifelong Catholic, attending St. Paul Parish before later joining Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
The visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with a Funeral Ceremony to follow at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. We will then be processing to St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, 1223 Church Rd, St Paul, MO 63366.
Jim will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the quiet strength he brought to his family and community. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
