James "Doug" Potts

James "Doug" Potts, age 67, of Hazelwood, Missouri passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. He was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on April 25, 1957 to James and Janet Potts (nee Moore). 

Doug was a committed husband, father, son, and brother. He was a dedicated police officer who served his community with pride and commitment for 33 years. After retiring, he worked as a Building Engineer at Newmark, for Elsevier Inc. Beyond his exemplary career in law enforcement, Doug constantly showed his love through his actions; and found joy in sailing, fishing, barbecuing, and woodworking. Additionally, Doug cherished spending quality time at Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. He valued these moments of camaraderie, frequently enjoying a drink with his friends. Doug's contributions to his community and the memories he created with loved ones will be fondly remembered.

Doug is survived by his wife, Denise Potts (nee Schwenger ); two sons, Michael Potts and Andrew Potts; mother, Janet Potts; two sisters, Melinda (Tim) O'Shea and Regina (John) Garofalo; brother, David (Laney) Potts; sister-in-law, Darlene (Steve) Jacobsen; nieces and nephews; great niece and great nephews; and a host of other family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Potts. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm with a Memorial Service at 12:30 pm Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals& Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.
