Jesse James Wedick, age 48, of Ballwin, Missouri passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born in New York, New York on August 4, 1975 to James and Karen Wedick (nee Mintz).
In 1977, the family, which later grew into a tight knit family of seven, moved to a farm in the Ozarks outside Willow Springs, MO. Jesse, the firstborn, graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1993 and after a few years of college became a new car salesman in Columbia, MO. His genuine interest in other people, along with his friendliness and rare sense of humor, made him a natural for this line of work. Jesse honed his craft and his stylish wardrobe while living and working in Las Vegas, Scottsdale, and Kansas City. In the early 2000s, Jesse moved to the Orlando, Florida area where he soon became fluent in Spanish and started his own firm in the vacation ownership industry. He specialized in training others to be effective salespeople. During the boom years his firm had more than 60 full-time employees. “I’ve basically got a PhD in selling” he was known to say.
Jesse traveled extensively for leisure throughout the Caribbean and Central America and owned several homes. He loved Boston terriers, was a lifelong learner, particularly enjoying ancient history, and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. His love of baseball began by listening to Jack Buck’s AM radio broadcasts with his dad and playing whiffleball with his siblings on the farm. It progressed to him knowing advanced sabermetrics of every player in the Cardinals farm system as well as every player in Major League Baseball. “I could be an MLB general manager” he would say.
Jesse’s compassion for others, his stellar impersonations, and his ability to combine irony, a sense of the absurd and a voice of innocence made him hilarious and endearing to all. As his regional manager at Bluegreen Vacations at Bass Pro – his last job – told the family “Before Jesse came, we had a sales team. After Jesse arrived, he helped everyone, gave out nicknames and we became a family.”
Jesse was absolutely amazing and will be sorely missed.
Jesse is survived and was loved by his parents, James and Karen Wedick; four siblings, Sarah Wedick, Matthew Wedick, Rebekah Wedick and Michael Wedick; nephew, Sean Higgs; his former partners Eva Muñoz and Haydee Rosado, and a host of other family members and friends.
