After a 3 year battle with cancer, Jim passed away quietly at Evelyn's Hospice House on the 9th of March. He is survived by his two daughters Olivia and Lauren, his brothers Scott (Carolyn) and Mike (Shaune), his sister Shelley (Paul) and his father James Sr.
Jim grew up as an Army brat, living around the world, and eventually landing in Lake St. Louis, MO where he would later start a family and raise his two beautiful and talented daughters. He attended Wentzville High School, got his bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Lindenwood University, and earned his Master's in Computer Science from Washington University. Jim worked in IT, as an IT and cyber security consultant, and was an all-around tech nerd!
He loved all outdoor activities, hunting, and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed paddle boarding. Jim found so much joy cruising around in his Jeep with the top down and paddle boarding the lakes and rivers with his youngest daughter, Lauren.
Jim always found a way to live life to the fullest, even during the struggles that are part of life. After he was told his time was limited, he never gave up. He lived life fuller and fought harder than ever - for his daughters, for himself and for humanity. Throughout his life, he became the most selfless person and devoted his health journey to helping others. He participated in several cancer treatment research trials. The trials proved hard physically and mentally, but he endured them, knowing they would not change his prognosis, in order to help improve the cancer outcomes for unknown others. Jim was the kind of guy that would always pull over to help a stalled car and anonymously buy groceries for others because it helped put perspective into his own world.
Jim felt the most successful thing he had done in his life, other than raising his two daughters, was helping those in recovery for the last 10 years of his life. The friendships were especially dear and treasured by Jim.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the 370 Lakeside Park on Sunday, July 16th, from 11 am – 4 pm. Instead of flowers please make a donation in his name to Evelyn's House or Siteman Cancer Center.
