Joan Chase, born on September 4, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, in Chesterfield, Missouri. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she encountered throughout her vibrant life.
Joan was the heart of her family, whose world revolved around her children and grandchildren. She cherished the moments spent together, whether it was hosting holidays or simply enjoying family birthdays. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and love, where friends and family alike felt welcomed and cherished. Those who knew Joan will forever remember her infectious spirit, her laughter, and the way she left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path.
With a passion for life, Joan enjoyed many activities that brought her joy. Her adventures to the casino with her husband, Charles, were filled with laughter and love, while afternoons spent shopping at Hallmark allowed her to indulge in her creative side. Joan had a particular fondness for reading and relished quiet moments by the lake, where she would immerse herself in her favorite books. Additionally, she treasured lunch dates with friends, both old and new, building connections that spanned many years.
Joan's love and devotion extended beyond her immediate family. She was a nurturing figure to her grandchildren—Katie (Mike) Lindvall, Ryan (Allison) Kummer, Tyler (Christina) Kummer, Zach Holder, Brandon Biele, Olivia (Nate) Biele, Dylan, Nick, Dalton, Grayson, and Vince Biele—taking great pride in each milestone they achieved. She also delighted in the joy of being a great-grandmother to Benjamin, Ellie, Gwen, Vivian, and Baby Girl Kummer, who will all carry her legacy in their hearts.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Chase; her loving children, Sherrie (Bob) Holder, Steve Biele, Lisa (Mark) Kummer, Mike Biele, and Debbie (Paul) Humphreys; her supportive brother, Bill Pleis; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her deeply.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Celeste Pleis; her mother-in-law, Emma Chase; her father-in-law, Al Chase; and her enduring spirit lives on in the memories and stories shared by those who loved her.
