John "Pete" Bryant

September 2, 1931 — February 12, 2025

St. Charles, Missouri

John "Pete" Bryant, born on September 2, 1931, in Nashville, Tennessee, passed peacefully on February 12, 2025, in Chesterfield, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. His bright spirit and unwavering enthusiasm for life will be endlessly cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Pete was a man of many talents, embraced by the world as a successful salesman in the medical supply field, where his entrepreneurial spirit led him to found two separate companies. His career also spanned the role of hospital administrator in Nashville and presidency of St. Louis Surgical Supply—all accomplishments that resonated beautifully with his high energy.

A proud graduate of Hume Fogg High School in Nashville, Pete marked his path as a standout student, being recognized as captain of his baseball, football, and basketball teams, as well as president of his senior class. His impact extended beyond academics and sports; he was honored with four senior superlatives, including "Most Likely to Succeed," a testament to the admirable life ahead of him.

Pete served his country with honor as a Corpsman in the US Navy Reserves, showcasing his commitment to duty and service. This commitment continued as he became deeply involved with the Catholic Church, serving as a Mass lector on many occasions and actively participating in the Knights of Columbus where he was elected Treasurer, eventually rising to the level of Fourth Degree Grand Knight.

Family brought immense joy to Pete's life. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Donnie (Mike) Whalen, Teri (Tim) Johnson, and Lori (Seth) Buso, who remember with fondness the road trips filled with laughter, games, and song. Those heartfelt moments spent playing Alphabet and singing together in the car, the festive and enjoyable Christmases he orchestrated, and dinnertimes filled with fun are cherished memories that will forever resonate in their hearts. Pete was not just a father; he was a friendly face in the neighborhood, always active in play with the local kids, fostering friendships and nurturing joy wherever he went. As a parent to his children as adults, he served as an interested moral coach and trustworthy listener.

His family continues to blossom through his grandchildren: Bryant (Marissa Curia) Cantrell, Liz Johnson, Zack Johnson, Allison Arnett, Katelyn Jordan, Jackson Arnett, Natalie Arnett, Sylvia Buso, Audrey Buso, and Ava Greer, his great-granddaughter, who he loved. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit, embodying the values and love he instilled in them. He also leaves behind his dear friends, Ralph and Alicia Knothe.

Pete was known for his jovial disposition; he was funny, outgoing, and the life of the party. His love for Country music accompanied his adventures traveling in his RV. Whether playing Solitaire on the computer or watching sporting events, his interests highlighted a man who relished the simple, yet enriching, experiences of life.

While Pete's absence will be profoundly felt, his legacy endures in the lessons of love and joy that he imparted to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father John Wesley Bryant, Sr., mother Gladys Pearl Stafford, and his loving wives Loraine and Norma, as well as his brother and sister-in-law Joe Ed and Mickey Bryant.

As we remember Pete, we honor not only the life he led but also the profound impact he had on those around him. May we all strive to emulate his zest for life and the precious example he set through his faithful willingness to seek repentance and redemption through his Lord Jesus Christ. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he loved.
