John Evans went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2023, after valiantly fighting a severe infection. He was 83 years old.
He graduated from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He also earned an MBA from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. He was very proud of his military service and served for 18 years in the United States Air Force reaching the rank of Captain. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was loved by everyone.
John was born on May 26, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in Erie, Pennsylvania where his family lived in the housing projects. From a young age, he developed a strong work ethic by getting up early to deliver newspapers, even in snowy conditions. He joined the Army ROTC program in high school and his goal was to enlist in the Army; however, after graduating, the plans changed, and he was accepted into the Officer's Training School for the US Air Force. Upon completion of this schooling, he began his military career as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer responsible for the scheduling and servicing of all base aircraft. After his discharge from the Air Force, he relocated to St. Charles, Missouri and began working for Emerson Electric in Logistics.
John was very knowledgeable about many things and had a desire to excel in his work, but family was always his #1 priority. He loved his wife and children, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren stole his heart.
John is survived by his five daughters, Michelle Paul, Joy (Dane) Keely, Kelly (Joseph) Lentz, Stephanie Evans, Victoria (John) Peisker; 17 Grandchildren; 27 Great-Grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Judith Evans of 37 years; Father, Stephen "Steve" Evans; Mother, Ann Evans; Two Sisters, Stella Dawley, Annabelle Kader; Grandchild, Mariah Plumb.
