John Kent Flaiz

July 11, 1956 — December 22, 2024

Town and Country, Missouri

John Kent Flaiz, a loving husband, devoted stepfather, cherished brother, cousin, and loyal friend, passed away on December 22, 2024, in Town and Country, Missouri, at the age of 68. Born on July 11, 1956, in Quincy, Illinois, John lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and an unyielding spirit of generosity.

John's professional journey brought him to Encision, Inc., where he excelled in selling medical equipment. His career was not just about the work he did; it was also about the myriad friendships he forged along the way. He had a remarkable gift for connecting with people, never knowing a stranger and always ready to engage in a friendly conversation that left others feeling valued.

A proud alumnus of Jacksonville University, where he earned his business degree after receiving a basketball scholarship, John’s educational journey began at Meramec Community College. His intellectual curiosity and athletic prowess mirrored his approach to life: full of determination and dedication.

Those who had the privilege of knowing John were touched by his generous spirit. He dedicated countless hours volunteering at the church shelter, delivering food items and extending a helping hand to those in need. His character was defined by his humility and kindness, as he consistently put others before himself. With a charming smile and an honest demeanor, John had an incredible ability to light up any room and make those around him feel special. There truly wasn’t a day that went by without him doing something kind for someone else.

Outside of work and volunteering, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved lawn care and yard work, spending time nurturing his surroundings, and appreciated the beauty of well-kept green spaces. Driving provided a form of freedom and joy, and he delighted in the open road, always ready for an adventure.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Liliana Flaiz, and his two cherished stepchildren, Andres Pena and Maria Garcia. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Janice (the late Gerald) Elder; cousins, Barbara Richardson, Stephen (Patti) Buckley, and Trish (the late David) Whalen; his dear aunt, Jane Buckley; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Flaiz and Margaret Flaiz, and his beloved sister, Pamela Smith, as well as his uncle, Paul Buckley.

John is now reunited with his beloved childhood dog, Duffy, and will be greatly missed by his dogs Mo, Milo, Hayley, and Nany.

John was immensely proud of his family, which was always the cornerstone of his happiness. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and generosity.
