John Vitale

John Vitale, age 91, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, formerly of St. Peters, Missouri, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Friday, November 18, 2016 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 29, 1925 to Charles and Josephine (nee Palmisano).

John was a machinist for 32 years at Lincoln-McNiel. He was the first totally blind person to hold this position with the company. He was the loving Husband to Mildred R. Vitale (nee Schuepbach), who preceded him in death in 1997. John spent many of his retirement years active in the County Older Residents Program (CORP), giving phone assistance to older residents in need.

Survivors include his Brother, Joe Vitale; his Son, Lawrence J. (Cindy) Vitale of St. Charles, MO; Daughter, Vicky L. Vitale (Alan) of Edwardsville, Illinois; Grandchildren: Christine (James)Windes, Michael Tipton, Kevin Vitale and Phil (Ronda) Brewer; Great-grandchildren: Kylie, Alexis, Nicholas, Lydia Grace, Chase, Chloe, Hunter, A. J., Jason and Caelan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Frank and sisters Teresa and Alice.

A Memorial Service will be 12:00 pm Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376 with a reception following.
