John R. Winkler

John R. Winkler, age 65, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on September 6, 1958 to Jack and Viora Winkler (nee Fornshell).

John was always one to speak his mind and share his opinions, no matter what others thought. He always fought for what he wanted in life and was always convinced he was right, and often was. His extensive knowledge of music, history, and “useless information” continually impressed others.

John enjoyed spending his time at “The Farm” hunting and wandering the woods. He would never say no to a cold Busch beer or listening to Classic Rock Music. He loved to go bowling and watch St. Louis Cardinals games with his kids.

He cherished nature greatly and spent much of his life outdoors. He grew up fishing and hunting at a cabin on the river and then helped give his children the same experiences while they grew up with “The Farm” to go to. He encouraged others to leave technology behind and focus on the more important parts of life.

After his time at the University of Missouri, where he met many important people in his life and had a lot of great adventures, John went on to have a long and successful career as a Title Insurance agent. He spent most of his time at U.S. Title and was relied on by many people on a daily basis for his expertise. He was considered a giant amongst his colleagues.

John is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Thomas) Donnan, and Amber Winkler; his sons, John "Matt" (Jennifer) Winkler, Eric Winkler, and Austin Winkler; his grandchildren, Taylor Winkler, and Jackson Winkler; his sisters, Linda (Michael) Sticksel, and Jane Kapp. He will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack John Winkler; his mother, Viora Winkler.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm with a celebration of life to follow at 3:00 pm, all on June 1, 2024 at St. Peters Chapel, Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376.
