John W. Wright, age 83, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, September 22, 2023. He was born in DuQuoin, Illinois on August 25, 1940 to Vernon and Virginia Wright (nee Davis).
John is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Rosita Wright (nee Kimmel); daughters, Lisa (Tim) Wyman and Leslie Wright; granddaughters, Ashley (Tim) Kennedy, Casey McIntosh, Samantha Wyman, and Kaitlyn (Shawn) Clark; great-grandsons, Alex Kennedy, Jeffrey Kennedy, Oliver Clark, Desmond Clark, and Grayson Clark; brother, Donald Wright; sisters, JoAnne Carney and Diana (Gerald) Woodsides. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Wright and Virginia Wright; sister, Suzanne Bova; sister-in-law, Judy Wright; and brother-in-law, Gene Carney.
John was a proud member of the UAW, and retired from General Motors after a 34 1/2 year career. After retirement, he went on to volunteer his time for the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Through that organization John participated in disaster clean-up and support, including 9/11 in New York, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and other natural disasters. John was also a devoted member of his Church and his Church family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's honor to the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.
