Joseph Leeman Berry, age 83, of St Peters, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in Saint Charles, Missouri. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 15, 1940 to Archie and Frances Berry (nee Schall).
Joseph proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1959. While in the Navy, he served in the Medical Corps. and achieved the rank of Hospital Corpsman First Class. After his time in the military, Joseph worked for the State of Missouri and worked as a nursing home administrator. Joseph served as a board member for the Missouri Hearing and Speech Association. He was also a board member for the Missouri Employees Credit Union and was a member of the Association of Homes for the Aged. He was also a mason.
In his free time, Joseph was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time in the outdoors but most of all, he loved being with his family.
Joseph will be loved and missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his bonus mom, Genevieve Jensen (Berry); son, Andy Berry (Anne Mattielli); daughter, Brittany Lynn (Chris Vinton); daughter, Michelle Embree; Sisters, Gail Jones (the late Jack Jones), Vicki Andrews (Keith), Mary Friedman (the late Marshall), Margaret Houck (David), Margaret Wohlberg, and Martha Berry; grandchildren, Kailynn Cook, Taylor Cook, Hannah Faye, Genevieve Berry, Benjamin Berry, Shawn Embree and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Archie Berry; mother, Frances Haynes; bonus father, Donald Haynes; sister, Shirley Lambert; and son, Michael Embree.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Newcomer St. Peters Chapel located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. A funeral ceremony will begin at 6:00pm. Interment will take place privately at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
