Joseph William Bertagna, Jr., age77, of St. Peters, formerly of Jennings, MO., passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 surrounded by his family at Barnes-St. Peters Hospital. He was born on September, 22, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. The son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Kennah) Bertagna, Sr. He was married on February 10, 1968 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO. to Sandy Winker.
Joe(Bill) was a proud Firefighter for almost 32 years of his life. He was a member of the Firefighters Union Local 2665. In his spare time, he was an avid bowler, enjoyed swimming in the pool with his kids and grandkids, watching movies and Cardinal games with his wife, and playing with his many puppies over the years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and telling everyone that he met that he was married for 50 years to his beloved wife.
Joe(Bill) is survived by his wife; Sandy (Winker) Bertagna of St. Peters, MO.; his three children, Dawn (Brian) Alkire of Lake St. Louis, MO., Deanna (Wayne) Hoffman of Wentzville, MO., and David (Tiffany) Bertagna of Imperial, MO,; six grandchildren, Emma and Grace Alkire, Kollette and Lance Hoffman and Vaydah Friziellie and Vito Bertagna; one sister, Nancy (Bertagna) Hornberg; two sister-in-laws, Carola (John) Lina and Linda (Kris Krohn) Winker. He was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Virginia Bertagna, Sr. and his brother, Ronald Bertagna.
