Joseph Michael Elkan, age 79, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 9, 1944 to Harry and Helen Elkan (nee Murphy).
Joe was an avid reader of all genres. He loved aviation and dogs, especially his fur babies. His passion for aviation began during his time in the Marines in Vietnam as a helicopter crew member. This passion continued into his career at TWA (American Airlines), where he worked for 42 years, doing "everything but get fired." He was a loyal friend to many with a wry sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his Two Daughters, Jill (Scott) Hackmann of Saint Peters, MO, Leslie Koffler of Kansas City, MO; Partner, Catherine Wineinger; Two Grandsons, Kyle (Kim) Hackmann, Corey (Natalie) Hackmann; Two Granddaughters, Cami Hackmann, Anna Koffler; Six Great-Granddaughters, Eden Hackmann, Cora Hackmann, Eliza Hackmann, Catherine Hackmann, Claire Hackmann, Eleanor Hackmann; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Harry S. Elkan; Mother, Helen E. Elkan; Brother, Thomas Elkan.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Newcomer St. Peters Chapel located at 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Peters, MO 63376. A funeral mass will take place the following morning at 10:00am at All Saints Catholic Church located at 7 McMenamy Rd, St Peters, MO 63376. Interment will take place at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
