Labor Leader and longtime head of Teamsters Local 688 died at his home Dec. 5. Galli held many offices, including President of the Labor Health Institute, all Local 688 Executive Board positions, and many statewide and national boards during his more than 50 years with the Teamsters. He was politically involved to further the welfare of the American worker. He retired at age 75 and remained active until his death.
Galli was born in St. Louis, the son of the late Joseph A. Galli and Lavenia Lois DeCroix. Galli was predeceased by his first wife, Jessie Jean Mansfield (1931-1975), his siblings, and his son Phillip Michael Galli (1954-1985). He is survived by his wife, Donna Beattie Steininger, two sons, Joseph A. Galli (Vicki) and Anthony A. Galli (Debbie), and the children and many grandchildren of all three sons. He is also survived by stepdaughters Shelly S. Nacy, Sheri Steininger (Greg Marshall), Susan Steininger (Lorri DeWitt), and Sally Steininger, as well as their children and one grandchild.
A celebration of his life will be held in the spring.
