Joyce Eileen Steiger

July 12, 1950 — January 24, 2025

Creve Coeur

Joyce Eileen Steiger, a beacon of strength and compassion, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, in Creve Coeur, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on July 12, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia, Joyce's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication and devotion to her community, her work, and those she cherished deeply.

As the Chief Financial Officer of the St. Louis Economic Council, Joyce dedicated over 30 years of her life to fostering economic growth and prosperity in her beloved city. Her tireless efforts and sharp intellect were pivotal in navigating challenges and seizing opportunities for the community she held dear. Joyce’s professionalism and commitment were matched only by her warm-hearted nature, making her a trusted colleague and a friend to many.

Joyce’s academic journey took her to Old Dominion University, where she honed her skills and nurtured her passion for finance and leadership. Her education laid a strong foundation for her impressive career, but it was her love for helping others and her belief in the power of collaboration that truly defined her legacy.

Though Joyce's physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind her beloved niece, Trish E. (Mark Skare) Miller, and her cherished nephew, James D. Steiger III. She touched the lives of her sister-in-law, Renate Steiger, and her great-nephew, Venice Skare. Joyce also embraced the joy of family through her adopted niece and nephews, Ronan, Sybil, and Emery Stamps, and the myriad of friends who became an integral part of her extended family.

Joyce's family remembers her as a nurturing soul, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a reassuring smile. Her legacy of kindness and love will endure through the countless memories shared with those she held close.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, James D. Steiger Sr. and Edith Harman, and her brother, James D. Steiger, Jr. Their spirit guided her through life, and she often spoke of them with fondness and deep respect.

To honor Joyce's remarkable life, a visitation will be held on February 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Gospel Church, located at 5740 Telegraph Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129. The family would like to invite their guests to stay for a meal at the Church after the conclusion of the service.

As we bid farewell to Joyce Eileen Steiger, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on our lives, a legacy rich with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those around her. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
