Judy Ann Johnson (nee Boeckmann), age 74, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021. She was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on October 18, 1946 to Edward and Alice Boeckmann (nee Feigl).
Judy grew up on the south side of St Louis City. She attended Scruggs Elementary and Cleveland High School and was a life-long member of Trinity UCC Church (now located in Affton, MO). Growing up, Judy was in Girl Scouts and Jobs Daughters, where she met her husband. She also loved to talk about her Boy Scout outings with her brother and father and their Boy Scout troop as a young adult. After getting married and moving to Florida, Judy continued to find Girl Scout troops that needed her as she was a lifeguard and canoe instructor. Judy raised her 3 kids as a military wife in Tennessee and Virginia, which meant spending hours driving back to St Louis to be with her family while her husband was at sea. After finally moving back to the St Louis area, the family settled in Bourbon, MO, where Judy was involved in almost every level of Girl Scouts thru the many years. There were many summers where Judy and the 3 kids would spend multiple weeks at Girl Scout camp only coming home long enough to do laundry. Later, she would still go to summer camp for her 3 granddaughters to participate as well. After her husband went into a nursing home due to MS, Judy moved back into her family home in South City to help care for her mother until her passing. Judy then moved in with her daughter Terri in St Peters. For the last few years, she has spent her time crafting, crafting and more crafting. Everywhere she went, she would have either a cross or hat to pass out, including donating hundreds to go out in church boxes here in the St Peters area.
Judy was a 50+ year member of Girl Scouts and would appreciate donations in her name to Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
Judy is survived by her children, Terri (Robert) Steinbach, Tammy (Kelly) McMurphy and Mark (Melissa) Johnson; her grandchildren, Sarah McMurphy, Andrea Steinbach, Rachel McMurphy, Christopher Steinbach, David Johnson and Steven Johnson; and her siblings, Bruce (Kathryn) Boeckmann and Carol Yancey. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn James Johnson; her parents, Edward and Alice Boeckmann; and her brother-in-law, Patrick Yancey.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 pm, both on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Saint Peters Chapel, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Interment will be private.
