Katharine "Kay" Kiefer, age 84, of Sanibel, Florida passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born in New York, New York on May 24, 1938 to Leo and Katherine (nee Steiniger) Schrafel.
Kay is survived by her Husband, Paul; Three Daughters, Mary Ellen (Timothy) Mislan, Sharon (David) Weiss, and Susan Kiefer; Son, Michael Kiefer; Five Granddaughters, Kathryn (Lee) Bland, Sarah (Kade Young) Mislan, Nicole (Matthew) McQuaid, Melissa (Andrew Czapliskie) Weiss, and Elizabeth Anne (Chase) Johnson; Great-Grandson, Jude Bland; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Leo and Katherine Schrafel; and Sister, Barbara (William) Graner.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation, or the Sanibel Audubon Society in Kay's honor.
Family and friends will be invited to share in a Memorial Celebration for Kay that will be held in St. Louis within the next few months. Details to follow.
