Katherine Ann Mercille, age 70, of Ballwin, Missouri passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023. She was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on February 11, 1953 to Joseph and Jean Sweeney (nee Jessup).
Katherine "Kathy" Mercille lost her courageous battle with cancer in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. Throughout the ordeal she exuded such great positivity and strength. Kathy was beloved by all that knew her. She was well known for her sweet, positive, yet cunning personality. Kathy loved being a mother to her three children, but if you asked her she'd say her role as "memaw" was her true calling. Kathy embodied the ideals of family above all else. She rarely missed a family function or lifetime event. Kathy grew up the oldest of six children, 4 brothers and one sister. Kathy always looked forward to their annual siblings only vacation. Kathy's favorite daily activities included her conversations about life with her daughters, cuddling up and watching Hallmark movies with her dog Spot, playing cards with her cherished sister Susie, heading to the country to visit her son's family and eat his tasty cooking, trips to the casino, but above all she never missed an opportunity to cheer on her treasured St. Louis Cardinals, with her husband Doug. To know her is to love her and she was well loved.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Doug Mercille; children, Lisa Maxwell, Nicholas Joseph (Amber) Maxwell, and Megan (Alex) Hylton; step-children, Mark (Melissa) Mercille and Monique (Bob) Rosen; grandchildren, Hunter Albrecht, Maxwell Vitale, Haven Maxwell, Layna Vitale, Caleb Hylton, Scottie Hylton, Emma "Bean" Maxwell, Madi Mercille, Isabel Mercille, and Gabi Rosen; sister, Susie (Bruce) Yearian; brothers, Kevin (Lisa) Sweeney, Mark (Courtney) Sweeney, and Timmy (Paula) Sweeney; and brother-in-law John (Sandy) Mercille.
