Kay Davis

December 4, 1945 — December 11, 2021

Janet Kay McColm was born December 4, 1945, the daughter of Joe and Eva Burks McColm. She was born in the same farmhouse as her mother on the homestead farm, northeast of Bolivar, MO. There were very few places on the farm that Kay's footprints hadn't traveled across at one time or another, and she loved helping, particularly driving the tractor at hay bailing time.

Kay accepted Christ as her Savior in October, 1956 and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. She graduated from Bolivar High School in 1963 and attended Southwest Baptist College (University) a short while.

Kay married her high school sweetheart, Larry Davis, and they had one daughter, Lori.

Kay's joy was truly her family. She enjoyed attending her family's softball & baseball games, swim meets, dance recitals, vocal & band concerts, or a family barbecue. She was as devoted to the great grandchildren as she was her only daughter. She and Larry were married for 58 years and she was a loyal partner and wife. She was more than a Mom, she was also Lori's best friend and confidant, but the line was never blurred, she was always her Mom first and foremost.

Kay was the type of person who stood up for what she believed in, had a very good sense of right and wrong based on Godly principals, did her very best work at all times, whether it was planting a flower garden, writing up a bid for work, or being available for her family, friends, neighbors and business associates. She was a person who showed up and found a way to solve a problem and make things happen. You could depend on her because she had a very giving heart. She was instrumental in leading many family members to Christ.

After Larry completed school in Dallas, TX and serving on several committees in the funeral industry, they settled in the greater St. Louis area where Kay found her third true love...the first being God & fellow Christians, the second being her earthly family, and then her third being her work at Carboline Company where she rose through the ranks to Director and a member of the executive team. She managed many departments throughout the company. Kay's management style was one of high expectation, fairness and opportunity for growth, and always finding a way to have fun at work.

Through the years she served in various ways in the church, including vacation bible school, Director of Girl's Auxiliary, Librarian, Discovering your Ministry, and We Love St. Charles and others. She was a member of Waypoint Church.

Kay passed away December 11, 2021 at her home. She is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Lori, O'Fallon, Mo, three grandchildren, Jeff Roeper of Old Monroe, Mo, Rachel (Dohrman) and husband Jeremy Natale, of Wentzville, Mo, and Sarah (Dohrman) and husband Kyle Fogg of O'Fallon, Mo, and four great grandchildren, Landon, Jayda, Rylin, and Eva, Sister-in-law Barbara McColm, of Bolivar, Mo,
as well as many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Eva McColm, a brother Earl Gene McColm, and sister Donna Young, and brother-in-law John Young.

Funeral Services will be held at Waypoint Church 4075 Old Highway 94 South, St. Charles, Mo with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, Mo.
