Kim Bernard Gavril, 61 of St. Charles, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at his home with his family by his side. He had battled cancer for the last four years.
The son of Bernard and Helen (Hesemann) Gavril, he was born July 14, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri.
In 1972, he married Joan Wall and to this union two children, Jennifer and Jason, were born.
On June 25, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church of Harvester, Missouri, he married Brenda Ellison, who survives.
Also surviving him are: one daughter, Jennifer Bourn and her husband, Thomas of O'Fallon, Missouri; three sons, Kim Jason Gavril and wife, Julia Clements of Soulard, Missouri, Joshua Ellison and wife, Jamie of St. Charles, Missouri and Nathan Ellison and wife, Carly of Chatham, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Diane Pavia of St. Peters, Missouri; a niece and nephew, Lauren Felzien and Bobby Hendricks and his beloved dogs, Digger and Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kim was a truck driver most of his life, primarily for DHL and LandAir. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Syracuse University Orangemen basketball fan. He loved winter float trips with his childhood friends, camping, trout fishing and NASCAR. He was a member of the Teamsters' Union and Zion Lutheran Church of Harvester.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, 3866 Old Hwy. 94 South, St. Charles, MO 63304. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening, January 24, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, MO 63376. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
