LaVerne Rauh, devoted child of God, lifelong Lutheran and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on October 11, 2024, in Wentzville, Missouri. Born on September 22, 1937, in Houston, Texas, LaVerne's life was a testament to her faith in Jesus and dedication to family and friends. She was not only the perfect wife for John, she was an instrumental partner in his years of ministry in the Lutheran Church.
LaVerne was a nurturing teacher who devoted her professional life as a 1st Grade Teacher and Reading Resource Specialist. Her commitment to education and her passion for helping others shone brightly throughout her career.
Family gatherings, hosting parties and congregational events were a hallmark of LaVerne's life. She loved hosting family and friends and created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel at home. LaVerne had a particular passion for anything that involved her grandchildren—Tyler (Crista), Zachary, and Victoria—whose lives she cherished deeply and took immense joy in following their pursuits and achievements.
Always fashionably dressed, LaVerne had a delightful sense of style that reflected her vibrant personality. Her elegance and poise were matched only by her spirited approach to life, which inspired all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her love of Christmas, decorating for the season and preparing to celebrate Jesus Birth were always evident and enjoyed by all who visited.
LaVerne leaves behind her devoted husband, Rev. John Rauh, her loving son, JD Rauh, and her cherished daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Lewis and their children Tyler (Crista), Zachary and Victoria. She is also survived by her dear brother-in-law, Robert Fischer, and her beloved sister, Diana (Gary) Antal. On the Rauh side she is survived by Mary (Richard), Ruth Ann (John), Lois (Sam), Bill (Carol) Bob (Barb), and Joan (Steve).
LaVerne's legacy is enriched by the memory of her predeceased family members, including her parents, Rev. Louis and Clara Ulmer, and her sisters, Eudora (Dave) Taylor, Grace (Max) Davis, and Gloria (Bob) Fischer. Their spirits live on through the love and fidelity LaVerne shared with those she held dear.
As we remember LaVerne, we celebrate a remarkable woman who impacted many lives with her unwavering love, kindness, grace, and deep faith in Jesus. Her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of her family and friends.
