Lois Leah Klayman

November 1, 1943 — March 4, 2023

Lois Leah Klayman, age 79, passed away surrounded by family on March 4, 2023. She was born to Myron and Rebecca Levy on November 1, 1943.

The treasured cornerstone of her family, Lois is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Klayman, whom she met and fell in love with at the age of 16; last July, they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary and 63rd year together.

Lois was the giver of unconditional love to her two daughters, Laurie Beth Klayman and Jennifer Rebecca Klayman, and her grandchildren: Julian Jeffrey Brown, Kai David Klayman, Victor Ricardo Lopez Blanco, and Parker Anthony Jarrell. She was a loving sister to her siblings, Jules Richard Levy and Ellen Claire Levy.

Lois was a beautiful person inside and out. She was highly talented, especially in her copywriting and entrepreneurial ventures. One of her proudest achievements was the jewelry and gift store, Nieja Bend, that she owned with her daughters for 15 years in the University City Loop. Their regular buying trips took them around the country and often to Taxco, Mexico. Lois, Laurie, and Jennifer were best friends, and shared many wonderful adventures.

Lois was the best grandmother (MumMum) to her adoring grandsons. They spent time together doing crafts, cooking, swimming, and playing. Every event and holiday was celebrated together. Her devotion to her family and capacity for love was infinite.

Lois was a humanitarian and self-proclaimed hippie child of the Sixties. Her progressive political views led her to run for the University City council and she was active in politics for most of her life. She served as the Missouri media director for Gary Hart's presidential campaign.

One of Lois' greatest joys was vacationing to all-inclusive resorts in warm water tropical paradises. She would never pass up an opportunity to take a family trip in the sun.

Lois was a warm, talented individual, who cared deeply for others. She will be dearly and forever missed by her loving family and friends.

A memorial in her honor will be held at Newcomer Chapel in Chesterfield, MO on April 22, at 2:00 pm. Snacks and social time will be from 3:00-5:00pm. It will also be a live-streamed event. Everyone is welcome. If you would like to share a story about Lois or speak about your relationship with her, we would be honored. Please let Laurie or Jennifer know, and we will be glad to accommodate.
