Loretta Dolly Leible, age 88, of O'Fallon, Missouri passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020. She was born in Bible Grove, Missouri on February 28, 1931 to Leslie and Freda Hollis (nee Gibbs).
Loretta was born and raised alongside her siblings in Bible Grove, Missouri, where she enjoyed school and playing basketball. After attending the Bible Grove schoolhouse until her senior year, Loretta chose to set out on a new path to Vienna, MO, where she would achieve her goal of completing high school. With little to her name, but big dreams, Loretta was off to St. Louis. She made friends wherever she'd go, and St. Louis was no exception. Loretta and her girlfriends loved to go dancing, and when a young, dapper man named Eddie came along, she couldn't help but dance right into his arms. And they'd continue dancing for 53 years. Their marriage was overflowing with the love and strength needed to endure times of war, child rearing, careers, and the heartbreaking loss of their son, Kenny, in 1996. Through all of life's ups and downs, Loretta never complained and always maintained a sense of purpose and optimism. She knew, from a young age, the joys and comfort of family and friends. She and Eddie never missed a chance to share their love with family, including their parents, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Family reunions and their second home in Vienna was a favorite pastime for Loretta and her family, along with trips home to Bible Grove and Perryville. Loretta and Eddie brought out the absolute best in each other, and a piece of her heart was taken when she lost him in 2005. But Loretta continued to persevere and reached her long-time goal of a 50-year career as a Walgreens cosmetician. She was proud of all her accomplishments, but most of all, Loretta was proud of the family that she and Eddie built; 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. If Loretta was missing anything after a life full of adventure, it was Eddie, Kenny, and her loved ones that have gone before her. Loretta is home.
Loretta is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Danny) Bargielski of Jefferson City, MO, and Karen (Gregory) Nemec of Bridgeton, MO, two sisters; Betty (Hank) Slobe of Chicago, IL, and Martha Bradley of Bible Grove, MO, seven grandchildren; Vickie Wieberg, Lisa (Jason) Loos, Daniel "DJ" (Marie) Bargielski, Mary Jo (Ryan) West, Gregory Nemec, Alex Bargielski, Kristina (Anthony) Filor, twelve great grandchildren; Mary Pat, Brett, Carys, Jay, Rex, Isabelle, Ryker, Kale, Tyson, Julia, Blake and Colby, and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward in 2005, a son, Kenneth Leible, her parents, Leslie and Freda Hollis, and two sisters, Lorraine Aldridge and Mary McGill, and two brothers, Bill and Wayne Hollis.
