Dr. Manfred Thurmann, age 94, of Chesterfield, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico on July 24, 1929, to Kurt Thurmann and Kaethe Ercklentz Thurmann.
Manfred earned his medical degree at the University of Mexico Medical School. Manfred was a highly respected cardiologist and professor. He loved to nurture animals, was a talented woodcarver/artist, a lifelong classical music and opera enthusiast, and enjoyed learning and discussing history. He was fluent in Spanish, German, French and English, and he used his gift of language as a volunteer at the Missouri Botanical Gardens and the Missouri Historical Society.
Manfred is survived by his wife, Nancy Thurmann; three daughters, Elena (Michael) Scibelli, Anne Becker, Maria (Wolfgang) Knierim; son, Erich (Michelle) Thurmann; five grandchildren, Louisa, Gennaro, Joseph, Kurt and Kyle; two great grandchildren, Jack and Madeline, as well as many friends, colleagues, and patients.
