Marc Hammond Wiederholt, age 74, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 in Saint Peters, Missouri. He died from Parkinson's disease.
Marc was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 14, 1948 to Ned and Phyllis Wiederholt (nee Thayer). He graduated from high school in American Samoa, received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of California at Berkeley, a Master's degree from University of Hawaii and a JD from University of Washington School of Law. He worked as a missionary with The Navigators, followed by English as a Second Language instructor at University of Washington and in Washington State community college system. He practiced law prior to becoming a contracts administrator with Sea Launch and The Boeing Company. He loved reading books, speaking Russian, teaching the Bible, traveling internationally, doing carpentry, and spending time with his family and friends.
Quote from stepson Andreas Plackis in the wake of Marc's passing:
Maybe today we can remember just how important it is to love and fight for all our family members. Marc was steadfast in that no matter how high or low you were, he was always proud to know and have each of us. He was always present, always available, always grateful. We will all see Marc again but maybe until that time we can take a page out of his book and hug those we love a little bit harder, forgive those who have harmed us and reconcile conflict a little bit quicker, and remember that family will always be family and when times are tough that is who will be at our side.
Marc is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wiederholt; two daughters, Grace Wiederholt and Kirstin Jansen; son, Ryan Wiederholt; two stepdaughters, Christie (Travis) Moon and Elena Plackis; stepson, Andreas (Jessica) Plackis; two grandsons, five step-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marti Wiederholt; parents, Ned and Phyllis Wiederholt; two sisters and one brother.
The family is tentatively planning to have a memorial service in Little Rock, Arkansas sometime late summer.
