Marcia Carter

September 4, 1929 — September 24, 2020

Marcia Mae Carter born September 4, 1929 at home in Ellsinore Missouri.

The Carter family announces with great sadness the passing of their beloved Marcia Mae Carter on September 24, 2020 at the age of 91. Marcia was preceded in death by her loving husband Calvin, with whom she was married to for 72 years. Marcia was an amazing woman in so many ways. She was a loving, giving person and an amazing cook. Nothing meant more to her than cooking a wonderful meal for her family and friends. She loved entertaining. Her family meant the world to her. If there is one thing that made her unique it was that she was always full of mischief! You could always count on her to find the fun in everything; she made life extra special for everyone around her. She will be deeply missed.

Education meant a lot to her. She had a master's degree in early childhood education and was an outstanding, dedicated teacher for 30+ years, and even helped write the curriculum for Hazelwood school district. Her students just loved her. She was a member of Eastern Star and she
and Calvin were Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron in 1969. She lived a full life always busy planning the next fun event. A few of the things she loved was music, singing, camping, square dancing, poetry, theater and happy hour!!

Marcia is survived by her son Calvin Michael Carter, daughter, Donna Atchison; her brother ,Wendell Carnahan, six grandchildren: Michael, Chad, Megan, Nick, Clayton and Ryan, six great grandchildren: Hannah, Jack, Logan, Colt, Ginger and Ryder and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Carter, her parents, Ruth Estelle Carnahan (Roe) and Charles Carnahan; her siblings, Charles E. Carnahan Jr., William Carnahan, Mary Risby and Shirley Gooch.
