Mark Hursey Maechling

January 5, 1957 — February 1, 2025

St. Charles, Missouri

Mark Hursey Maechling, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 1, 2025, in St. Charles, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched all who knew him. Born on January 5, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, Mark was characterized by his loving and generous spirit, traits that endeared him to everyone he met.

Mark's family was his pride and joy. He cherished his wife of 24 years, Patricia Maechling, and they built a life filled with laughter, respect, and deep affection. Mark was a devoted father to his children: Shannon (David) Wooten, Thomas (Briana) Maechling, and Amanda Brodbeck as well as his Step-Son, Dustin Dummer. He was known as "Papa" to his grandchildren—Luke Brodbeck, Tyler Brodbeck, Kaida Wooten, Greyson Maechling, Hunter Maechling, Nate Dummer, and Kylie Dummer—always finding joy in their accomplishments and taking pride in their lives.

Mark's personality lit up any room. With a mischievous glimmer in his eye and an ornery sense of humor, he brought laughter and warmth to gatherings. He had an innate ability to make people feel welcome, embodying the adage that he never knew a stranger. His love for his church family at Element Church in Wentzville was profound; he graciously served as an Usher, taking great pleasure in connecting with others through shared faith and fellowship.

He had many interests that brought joy to his life, including going to the casino and passionately watching sports, especially basketball and football. These activities were often shared with loved ones, creating cherished memories filled with joy and competition.

Mark's love and appreciation for his family were evident throughout his life. His brother, Matthew Maechling, along with sisters-in-law Eva Maechling and Kathy Dalton, contributed to his vibrant family network, which was always filled with love and support. He also carried the memories of his deceased family members in his heart, especially his beloved mother, Betty Maechling, his older brother Frederick Maechling, Jr., brother-in-law, James Hertel, and sister-in-law, Renee Maechling.

His passing came as he was surrounded by his beloved family and friends, a testament to the close-knit relationships he nurtured throughout his life. His spirit will continue to brighten the lives of those he left behind, and he will be deeply missed.

Mark's life will be honored Saturday, February 8, 2025, during a funeral service at 3:00 PM, followed by a visitation from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri.
